Batik care
Batik is a hand-painted and delicate cloth with a smooth surface that must be handled carefully.
The materials that I use for batik are very good-quality cotton, viscose, and other kinds of materials.
The best way is to wash your batik with your hands, using mild soap and lukewarm water.
Avoid using hot water, as this can cause the colors to run.
After washing, the best method is to spread out the batik and let it dry in a shady location.
To keep your batik looking beautiful, it’s best to iron it inside out on the lowest or warmest iron setting.
Important information and advice:
- Do not wash them with other clothes.
- No washing in the machine.
- No drying in the sun.
- No direct ironing.
- Don’t use perfume.
- Don't use chlorine bleach, strong detergents, or brighteners.
"If you take good care of your batik, you will have it forever."

Silk
The silk that I use is produced in one small place in northern Greece. It is a traditional and very old place with an amazing quality of silk. The colors that I use for the silk are only for the silk. That means special colors that will not fade after washing. On some silk pieces, I color the background with plants and natural colors.
The hand-painted silk can be washed by hand, in cold water, and using just a small quantity of mild hand soap. Don't use scrubbing hand soap! Be careful not to rub or twist the scarf too hard, as well as not to let it soak for hours in the water.
Please keep in mind, though, that sunlight can damage the intensity of the colors on your hand-painted silk. So make sure you never leave your scarves in direct sunlight.
Don’t use perfumes, hair sprays, or deodorant sprays when wearing a silk scarf.
How to clean your silver
Polishing:
Simply polishing your silver works well when the tarnishing is not too severe. It’s also the best method for cleaning oxidized silver, as you can stay away from the intentionally tarnished areas.
Silver is soft and can become scratched easily. You can use a special silver cloth to polish your items, but a lint-free flannel, microfiber, or other soft nonabrasive cloth will do as well. Do not use paper towels or tissues to polish your jewelry, as they contain fibers that can scratch the silver.
When polishing, use long back-and-forth motions that mirror the grain of the silver. Do not rub in circles, as this will magnify any tiny scratches.
Soap and water:
Very warm water and a mild, ammonia-and phosphate-free dishwashing soap should be your first line of defense if the polishing cloth fails to remove tarnish. Soap and water should also be used to clean your pieces before using any of the methods listed below.
Remove any jewelry
Remove any jewelry and jewelry that contains gemstones, precious or semi-precious stones before proceeding:
- Showering and doing the dishes
- Swimming pool
- Swimming in the sea
- Hot tub
- Hot springs
- Chemicals in lotions and perfumes can also cause your jewelry to tarnish. Apply them first, let them dry, and then put your jewelry on.
Why is silver getting black
It is incorrect and a myth that silver jewelry that turns black is made of less silver or even no silver!! The oxidation of silver jewelry is a sign that it is really silver!!
Silver becomes black because of hydrogen sulfide (sulfur), a substance that occurs in the air. When silver comes into contact with it, a chemical reaction takes place and a black layer is formed. Silver oxidizes faster in places with a lot of light and high humidity.
Also, contact with products like cosmetics, hair spray, perfume, deodorant, body lotion, bleach, etc., can speed up the oxidizing process. Natural oils that your skin produces can also react to your silver jewelry. Silver can react with substances on your skin and is highly dependent on the type of food you eat, the type of alcohol you consume, and whether you are taking medication.
Some steps that can prevent oxidation
- Do not store your silver jewelry in damp places such as the bathroom or the kitchen. Keep it in a closed bag or special jewelry box that is protected from the air and store it in a dark space.
- Put on your silver jewelry after you have used make-up, perfume, hair spray, and other beauty products.
- Take off your silver jewelry when you go swimming, cleaning , hand washing, exercising or swimming in the sea water.
What is the hand-made silver chain and what is the machine-made chain?
Chains can be hand made or machine made. Well, just from the words "hand-made" and "machine-made," we can quite simply understand. Making one long chain with your hands needs a lot of time and concentration. Soldering link by link and then cleaning, processing, and all the other details that we do to make one chain is very slow and delicate. That is why the price is higher. But 100% of that chain will never fall apart or open. And you will have it forever.
On the other hand, in our global market, we have a faster and less expensive option, which is machine-made chain. From my experience, machine-made chains are good chains, but there is always some percent that they will open, tear apart, etc. On the other hand, machines for making chains are good and helpful for making very small sizes of links, and that is very helpful for one jewelryist.
Care for paintings and drawings
All my paintings are painted on canvas that I made alone, from blind frames until the preparation of the canvas. I do oil paintings. And for them, care is quite simple.
The easiest way to remove a thin layer of dust, grime, or residue is with a gentle white cotton cloth or light brush.
- Do not spray anything on the work.
- Do not use anything that contains alcohol, as this could remove some of the paint.
All my work is original and signed with my name. You will receive a certificate of authenticity.
I ship them in a special package protected and safe.
My drawings are on different kinds of paper and different sizes, with different techniques and materials.
When the drawing arrives at your home, the best way to protect it is to frame it. If you are not able to do it immediately, you can store it in some place with no humidity.
